I agree, and my instinct for these sorts of images is always to the B&W but the colour is so subtle here and the monochrome actually feels subtractive. Which is unusual.
For me the colour pic is only subtly different to the monochrome so I would move focus to shape and depth instead which is better for me in mono. It's obviously a personal opinion.
I'd use the colour image but desaturate it slightly, so that at first you think its monochrome then as you catch glimpses of colour the image changes in your perception.
Oh sure, both of these are completely unprocessed apart from dumping the colour from the second. But I rather like how subtle the colour is in the original.
