I'm a secondary wildland firefighter and every incident I've been on, and every forest/district I've traveled to help in the last few years was already critically understaffed. This will cost lives, either that of residents, firefighters, or probably both.

They'll just pull low level prisoners from jails and prisons to fight the fires. They don't pay them; they just stick a few dollars in their commissary funds account so they can enjoy a $6 Pepsi every now and then.
