Very weird and different scenario.
A Southern sympathizer with a very large Northern majority in Congress (since the South wasn't back in government yet.)
Technically the same party, but nearly as oppositional as Dems and the GOP are today.
they don't ....This is NOT just going to go away. The courts are not going to save us & Trump is not going to be “voted” out (remember Jan 6?)... Americans' timidity will be our ruin....
a decade of learned helplessness that "Trump wins in the end" will take a lot of pain to be rewritten for GOP elected officials. The 2-3 month mark (mid-Summer) is likely when the dam breaks if they're not meaningfully repealed before then
I don't think an override of a veto is likely here. But then again, I didn't think that Joe Biden would get pushed out of the race last summer. Anything is possible right now and that's what is so unsettling.
How can they override a veto when they aren't passing any legislation for Trump to veto? And why would Trump veto anything coming out of a Congress his party completely controls?
I don’t think the majority of even GOP Congress is excited for his Great Leap Forward, but Trump probably has enough quislings to block a veto override.
