Saying Mum & Dad isn’t wrong - assuming every child has a mum & dad is. Some have two mums, two dads, carers, guardians etc.

If you know a child has a mum & dad, then great, say it! But it costs nothing to say parents & carers when you don’t know. No one loses anything, but some gain a lot.
