I’m not sure what’s going on but I’ve been disconnected from every phone call I’ve tried to make to D.C. this morning.

It's because people like you and I, as well as other resisters are overwhelming them! We need to keep doing it! Participate in as many protests as you are able as well. The more they see and hear us, the less they can turn away.

We can fairly safely now say that, had Biden not changed his mind regarding a second term run, we would have had an opportunity to select a much more progressive candidate. Dems need a new strategy for reaching the masses.

Hell yeah. She campaigned on changing and improving this country. She talked about universal healthcare, canceling student load debt, modernizing infrastructure, taxing the rich, jobs program to increase the amount of houses, reigning in big tech and immigration reform.

Lincoln as a unifier is an interesting take. States began seceding before he was even sworn in, and the country reunified only after the Confederacy was militarily destroyed. Whether he could have culturally and morally reunified the country is one of history's great counterfactuals.

He was a unifier when it came to common ground. He was never going to unify slaveowners and the wealthy that were benefited by slaves. A modern day Lincoln would not be unifying the entire country, rather the lower and working class, which encompasses the majority of the population.

This isn't to take away from the man's greatness. He faced perhaps the biggest crisis of our nation's history and eventually eliminated one of the original sins of the founding. But he was incredibly divisive at the time, so much so that he was the first President murdered in office.

There is a parallel to Dr. King. He's hailed as a secular saint now for "I Have A Dream," but was derided as all kinds of -ist during his time - extremist, anarchist, Communist, etc. And at least half the people who quote "I Have A Dream" would ban kids from studing "Letter from Birmingham Jail."

Voters in red states have been brainwashed into thinking the blue states are sucking up their hard-earned tax dollars.

So if the blue states wanted to secede, red state voters wouldn't lift a finger to stop us (and they certainly wouldn't fight a war to keep us).

I just don't see the feasibility of splitting up the country. Ideally, our Democratic and more progressive leaders will figure out how to get in front of those voters to clear the fog so they wake up just enough to realize they've been duped. We're not all enemies. We need plurality.

At a very surface level, at least, Chris Murphy feels very, very tuned into the zeitgeist. I don’t know whether he’s the right voice to drive a new liberal consensus, but I’d vote for him if he ran.

He is, at least, one of the right voices. He's more of a layman than the rest and can talk to Americans like Americans talk to one another. They still need better tactics when it comes to getting in front of people. Leaders need to represent more directly in their districts. They need to be seen!

Lincoln did not unify the country. He militarily squashed a rebellion. Had he not been shot, the plantations would have been broken up and land dispersed to the former slaves. That might have unified us in the long run

Lincoln was a Railroad lawyer, a Heavy from when "Railroaded" ws a Verb and everyone knew what it meant.
He was tied in with the Oligarchs of his time and their New Technology, which after him involved YUGE Gov 'Investment.'
So in a way, the new Lincoln is already there somewhere sharing the Glory.
