These little guys came out the first time at the beginning of February (1st picture), went through a heavy snow and a week of subfreezing temperatures, and are now showing off (2nd picture)!
I told them theyβd probably come too early, but theyβre professional flowers and know what theyβre doing.
Theyβre highly qualified, obviously much more than me!
Turns out they (and most bulb flowers) have a kind of antifreeze coursing through their βveinsβ that keeps them from freezing and rupturing the cell walls that help them stay upright.
My dear friend lost her hubby a yr ago and on that anniversary battled wind and driving rain to deliver daffodils to his grave, because they symbolize renewal and rebirth.
Also disabled people. I realize most of us are considered worthless to society, but ya know, we would like to not have to struggle & not constantly live in fear of losing our healthcare & social security benefits. Contrary to popular belief, we ARE human beings & we DO have feelings & dreams tooβ¦
Since I deactivated my Twitter almost a year ago, Iβve missed seeing your beautiful flowers and veggie garden photos. Itβs so nice seeing them again here. Thank you!
I love daffodils! I can't wait until spring springs. I have lots of daffodils and tulips and gladiolus and butterfly bushes. I love the smell of the new spring. If I could bottle that smell, I'd be filthy rich.
Beautiful! My grandmotherβs favorite flower was the daffodil. My grandfather took a stained glass class and made this for her. After she passed away it was 1 of the 2 things I asked for. Itβs now hanging in my sunroom. π

Mine are just starting to poke up through the leaves here in southern Ohio. About 3 more weeks to go.
