Democrats had four absences earlier. BUT, Frederica Wilson returned for the evening series. Then as Rs prepared to put this bill on the floor, Brittany Pettersen (recently gave birth) unexpectedly arrived to vote. AND Kevin Mullin (hospitalized) just unexpectedly showed up. Rs can only lose 1 now

I think there's an impression that I don't appreciate them showing up to vote despite difficult circumstances. I very much do! I'm glad they're doing that and not less than that. But being a member of congress is not an ordinary job and your ability to show up for votes changes the lives of millions

Yeah I share the same view. As a congressperson you have to be ready to drop everything you're doing bc you may be needed for an extremely important vote. A lot of dems seem to have the belief that we don't owe them anything?! It's the opposite, our leaders should be there morning night and noon

congress should be a 24/7/365 job. you are never totally off the clock and if you are actually taken out of commission and cannot, under any circumstances, do your job, it should be your duty to resign.

if you don't want that pressure or cant handle it, you're not built for the job. don't run.
