Yes, 40 would have been better. How can we truly judge the minds of these killers? How did they become monsters? How much control did they have over forces that shaped them? Society has failed them on so many levels. Isolating them and attempts to heal them is better than execution.

Yes, rehabilitation often doesn’t work so the need to imprison them…but conditioning by society, learning to hate, etc. led them to the monstrous state they were in to commit the crimes and that should be considered in our judgement of them
