In Ferguson, they swept phone data from the crowd, then later drove down streets and if there were 2 or more of those people in a house, they raided it.

Journalists unfortunately have to take their phones to protests but if I were anyone else I would be staring hard at that device and wondering whose side it’s really on

Which really does mean leave it at home.
Practice your hand writing.
Problem with faraday is if you get arrested, the cops then have all your info.

I suggest traditional cameras for recording
Non-phone camera if you you're filming and don't need to upload till later.
it's not a hypothetical, it has happened
You never know when your chill protest will morph to extremely not chill.
ALWAYS have your copy.
Use a traditional video camera.
Stingray tech will give police everything from your banking to your health information.
I suspected it was coming soon.
#Buy traditional #videocameras NOW.
Do not ever ever ever have your personal phone even on you with it turned off during a protest .
Burners are hard to use in any truly secure way.
I keep them single use only.
Or better yet have a plan and rendezvous points and don’t carry anything but a GoPro
In fact, we were just talking about that on a security channel and part of. I’ve had an iPhone for so long. I wasn’t even aware of that risk. Thank you for bringing it up.
Facial recognition still sucks thankfully but your phone is your brain.
Don’t hand it over willingly.
Not even with the phone turned off.
Do not take anything with you that you are not prepared to have the police confiscate.
Stop spreading lies.
