My mom has been reading my comics since I started making them. This has been going on for a good 40 years. She's not a fan of every title, but she has her favorites 💖
They didn't used to, but my entire family has been surprisingly supportive of the kids comics I've been writing. It's kind of a weird feeling, actually, knowing that at some point your mother-in-law is going to read the comic you're making. 😅
I haven't made comics in a bit but generally speaking: no, and not really.
I'd like it if folks I like enjoy my work, but attention spans are finite and the world is a big place with a lot of stuff in it to focus on both important and trivial.
I don't take it as a reflection of someone's affection for me that they aren't champing at the bit for my work. I'm more than my work (and that's the part I'd rather them like), and I do my work for myself anyway.
The wife likes the ones I draw (over other people's scripts). The ones I write and draw... not so much.
My brother is an avid comic reader but I think he has never read anything I've done.
Some buy them… almost 100% sure they don’t read them.
Honestly I don’t know how I’d handle a “fan” in my circle… I prefer my loved ones to be mostly indifferent to my deadlines and character arcs.

No one over the age of ten, though lol
So, no no.
I love that they do but don’t care that others don’t.

It bothers me only slightly.
