And Australia has a pristine image in the eyes of European (would be) tourists. I wish they knew how much is wrong here, environmentally and including these draconian laws.
I am so sad that Brisbane has become such a harsh place to try and survive in if you're not financially comfortable.
It never used to be like this but ruthless greed has ruined this once welcoming place.
It's like that in a lot of places. Parts of the Illawarra. Ppl thought they cld live in a car or van are now exposed. So many ppl can't afford the rent let alone buy the roof over their head.
I guess if QLD is locking up 10 year old “adults” anything goes in a mean spirited heavy handed approach to those sleeping rough. Seems to me the State, and local councils could put their heads together and use the enforcement money instead to create a reserve area for a tent park for the homeless.
They don’t want to! They are too busy appeasing the wealthy arses in their constituencies complaining about the poors being in their way and spoiling their view.
Mike, the Qld LNP now controls the Brisbane City Council and the State Parliament. Under the Hyperventilating Carbohydrate’s leadership of the Federal branch, we will witness Queensland’s regression to Joh’s days. I have feared these events occurring for the past two years, and now they're upon us.
My sentiments exactly. Cronyism and corruption seem to go hand in hand with the LNP control of state and local government here. It's an indictment on our society when the homeless are persecuted for the crime of poverty. Removing tents is just moving the problem elsewhere.
I’m sure you’ve seen how Moreton Council is treating their homeless citizens, forcing them to give up their pets and not allowing them to sleep in their vehicles. It’s obscene.
