The fight to save Mona Vale Hospital and keep Northern Beaches Hospital services in public hands has been a huge campaign.
It has been going for 25 years.
It held large rallies. It organised several petitions, each with over 25,000 signatures. 👇👇👇
It achieved two parliamentary inquiries, one with a Liberal government and one with a Labor government. Both supported the SMVHC's position.. They even got an independent elected in Pittwater, even though it didn't last. And still the community was ignored. The fight continues.
Interesting to note on a one of Richard Glover's political forums last year the liberal stooge admitted that the Public/Private hospital was a mistake and would not be repeated...
We fought it. We marched. Withstood years of traffic jams.
Have used it several times but Mona Vale hospital much more.
Privatisation boo hiss.
Every time you sell a public asset to someone TO MAKE A PROFIT it ends in tears & we lose what BELONGED TO THE PEOPLE.
Foreign owned too. You LNP fuckers.
I was just thinking the same thing .I have worked in both public and private , and from my experience , Public hospitals have a lot more checks and balances than private do .
It must be because I am getting older, but I find it hard to think of a positive outcome from a privatisation. TAFE, airports, aged care, health care, electricity generation and distribution, airlines, insurance etc, etc. There must be an occasional instance where it has worked, but it's a stretch.
I recall the previous member for North Sydney telling me that public private partnerships were the way to go for hospitals moving forward. Well - we know what happened next 😇
The private sector cannot sustain support/intervention for high complex, long stay, and low value (to their bottom line) care. It’s simply about the $$, not patients’ needs.
This might be a bit harsh and there may have been a change. However, I think the job specs for the triage nurse need to be reviewed. Update requirements to good listening skills.

"I told you so" is worthless in the aftermath.
