This is interesting because the question is less what they will do as *legislators* and more what they will do as *politicians*. AOC is a member of the House minority, but she’s doing a lot of politics about all of this anyway.

SENATOR JACKY ROSEN: I think that we have to realize that we're in the minority. They have the White House, they have the House, and they have the Senate. So the tools that are available to us here as legislators...they are limited.

I don't think it's even true, strictly speaking. With holds and other procedural mechanisms, the Democratic Senate minority can absolutely do stuff as legislators

They are craven, so when reelection looms and Trump has made Red States worse off, there are conversations to be had and deals to be done.
Our media didn't press them after Jan 6 when they protected Trump from impeachment either. That's when the system broke.

It's time they band together and form a game plan!! They need to use the phrase "Together we win- divided we fall"!!
There are a few stirrings of "getting it", but *way* too much cricket noise regarding the five alarm fire.
So get yourself to a camera and TALK ABOUT IT! You can do that, right?
MAGA talks directly to voters, dems talk amongst themselves in private.
When you're the majority party, your primary responsibility is to legislate your agenda.
When you're the minority party, your primary responsibility is to apply political pressure towards the opposition majority party.
And then the activists saved the ACA while the Dems were in the minority
AOC, Murphy, Schatz… that’s probably it.
EVERYONE KNOWS THAT!!!
They're saying it in part to avoid taking any responsibility or action. Ugh
Assuming they want to win...
This is where all Democrats can finally, collectively find their backbone.
“The House of Lords does nothing…and does it very well.”
But they'll be sure to fire up the machine to solicit donations come campaign season telling us "help us FIGHT fascism!" or whatever. Losers.
I wonder if losing fostered resentment and a weird political logic that Dems should "let" the public find out
It is frustrating to watch these people rationalize not trying
(same with media orgs re AP banning)
Limited as they may be, you do have tools at your disposal. How are you using those tools?
You are more than legislators and we pay you! Buck up, speak out, take media classes and educate your constituents… to start! We have a democracy to protect and fight for so ramp up your outrage for your constituents!
no longer convinced.
They can visually hold press conference outside the chamber to inform ppl what the bill says, what gop is floating, why EO’s aren’t really laws, etc, but they can’t change the bills.
If you mean more Americans would be informed with what is really going on, I’d agree, but resolving isn’t information, it’s ability to fix or stop legislation.
So you really do want a president who can do the politics extremely well. Like Obama or Clinton. It matters.
I disagree, Dem lawmakers Dem pundits, Dem voters, should have been out there consistently selling the wins-they feared not pleasing everyone-which they will never do.
