Personally I wouldn’t mind that if it meant drivers would stop treating the road like a highway. I’d rather cross the street between standstill traffic than try to avoid getting squashed at 40mph in an unsignalized crosswalk. Of course I’m aware it would annoy drivers to sit in traffic

It's just that the majority of those with power (middle class, working age) are.
I guess it depends on your definition of "regular driver" and also whether regular passengers (like kids) count.
and now the logan sq section that would benefit from a road diet is pretty wealthy.
It’s depressing that Chicago is actually better than much of the US when it’s still so incredibly driver centric.
