Really need a FascistFace (FB) replacement! So many of the home education, SEN and disabled groups I require access to are only on FascistFace. No websites or Bluesky, etc because 1. the platforms don’t suit their needs and
2. Here in the UK people are for the most part unaware, head in the sand about what’s happening in America. Partly because surprise surprise, the far right media isn’t really advertising it.

We must be talking to people who are not on Bluesky to get them to sign up. Look at my 3 different posts that discuss why Bluesky is far better that X or Threads. One advantage is Bluesky is not owned by a billionaire Trump supporters who control the alogorithym of what you see.
YES !!!! I still have a foothold at Twitter (which I refuse to call "X"); and I use it to encourage sane and decent (non-MAGA) Twitter users to migrate to Bluesky.
Just remeber that increased user count comes with things you ain't going to like and always has. Additionally, both Meta and Twitter will probably join hands to attempt to stop Bluesky from ever getting to that point and we'll see similar rhetoric used as in the TikTok ban cases.
I’m all for that but honestly we are going to have to stop blocking every person who shares a differing opinion. This site has some moderation so we need to be open to the back and forth. I’m guilty of this and I’ve decided I need to stop.

I floated this idea one other time. I think we ALL need to mail postcards to OUR Representatives. Emails are too easy to delete, postcards take up space, time, and they might even be looked at. Overwhelm them! If half the country voted for this fool, the other half should bombard them with cards.
I agree! This is also a great way for those of us who can’t attend demonstrations to contribute. At the very least all those postcards will be an inconvenience/irritation.
Sorry pal, around 50 % of the population are selfish pricks. Most of them hide well and some even feel a bit of a shame. The rest populates parliaments and boardrooms. We tend to follow them passionately.
The real metric is not number of users, but engagement. Millions of users that don’t use the platform are worthless to advertisers, because anyone can create fake users, but it takes real humans to interact and drive the conversation.

the problem is the centralized feed (and resultant drama) of X drives their huge engagement and its hard to replicate that on bsky I think since it's more distributed. It's an interesting design problem

Even as I celebrate Bluesky's success, I lament that the overall IQ has fallen substantially as more people join. More useless meme posters and more maga have joined the scene. I guess I'm a snob.

Let's also level set some realistic expectations so the same issue that has worked to disillusion progressives isn't as effective as it has been the last 30-40 years.
