This is actually conspiracist bullshit. Pharmas stand to make a fuckton off of cures and are very happy to sell them when they succeed in developing them (e.g. HCV, HPV, etc.). It’s just really fucking hard and expensive to develop treatments let alone cures.
There are numerous rare conditions the cost to research treatments & cures would outweigh potential profit and are ignored. Plenty of common illness treatment is considered 'enough' vs cost to cure. I'm not saying it's a great system
I agree but research of possible treatments & cures isn't quite the same as care. I hate the costs & profits. But progress would be stunted if drug development was all govt run. Profits fund more advances. Flawed but harder to solve 🤬 Universal HC would be a huge right step
There is big money in cures and 1st to cure. There's also a pretty constant supply of newly afflicted. Eradicating diseases is the toughest and still typically requires a vax. Treating / managing is huge progress. It's not a greed conspiracy
I have worked in "Big Pharma".. do you really think, I would let people die, if I found a cure, or let my family and friends die? We forget, that "Big Pharma" is thousands of regular people.. that maybe cures, are not that easy to find?
