I keep drafting and discarding pithy and witty responses, but the fact of the matter is that “politician” and “government” are jobs that have always drawn threats. I wish it were only so in the most extreme cases, like disappearing people off the streets, but my daughter also wanted a pony.

the thing is, i *do* actually believe murkowski when she says they're all facing threats from their voters, and i genuinely don't think she said that in an attempt to garner sympathy, but i just don't give a shit what their voters do to them
