I'm gonna go on a bit of a fanfic rant on here: As a person who is into BDSM, reading it in fanfics when it's obvious the author has never looked up a thing about it really takes me out of the story.

I'm talking about "Oh the characters didn't talk about safe words first or didn't ask for consent" stuff. I can suspend my disbelief and know the difference between reality and fiction, but...
Ex: picking the person stressed easily anxious about having responsibilities be the Dom? the one who loves having control and is only relaxed while doing so, be the Sub? Yeah people are different but I feel like the author wants to do the opposite of canon without putting much thought into it.
Nother Ex: tiny stuff to do like safewords being complicated and goofy when the whole point is for it to be something said quick and possibly also not ruin the mood (If a safeword is used it doesn't mean a complete end of the session, it means stop whatever your partner is not ok with and talk).
So, yeah, that's just my nitpick. Please just do research if you're gonna write stuff. "It's just a fanfic" yeah, but then write "bdsm inaccuracies" like how people do with medical inaccuracies in fanfics so I don't cringe like I'm reading fifty shades and avoid it.
