I think this is more on the UK than apple. They did not give the UK a backdoor right? They were told to and they pulled their services.

See, here's my problem with Apple. Absolutely incredible personal data protection policies. But the most boring, heavy, expensive phones on the market. Hats off to them for naming and publicly shaming the government though.

i would interpret this differently

they refused to add a secret backdoor for the UK to access the encryption — that would be falling

instead they make it clear the products are not secure by removing the product from the market

That’s what I took away from it as well. “Hey everybody in the U.K., we’re getting rid of encryption for Apple devices because YOUR GOVERNMENT WANTS TO VIEW YOUR DATA WITHOUT TELLING YOU. Oops, did we just say the secret part out loud? Our bad.”

When I heard Tim Cook donated $1mil to donald and then saw him with the other technogarchs at his inauguration, my heart sank. I've been absolutely steeped in Apple products since the first iPhone came out in 2007.

Apple is not the bad guy here. The British government secretly demanded that Apple create a backdoor access so they could access their citizen’s private information. Instead, they dropped the technology in the UK so as not to bend the knee to Government terrorism.
