It’s becoming clear that Canada’s strategy is not to do anything to upset the US while taking minimal steps to reorient the economy away from the US.
There are many problems with this approach, not least of which is that the government’s red lines are unknown.

In fact, they already have. The USMCA gives the US a de facto veto over any Canadian trade agreement with China.
Instead of acknowledging this reality, Canada is trying to have it both ways. And sleepwalking into vassal state status in the process.
