Broadway - a street that Vancouver has high hopes for - currently causes the greatest amount of bus passenger delay of any corridor in the region: 1,500 cumulative hours each day. 1,500!! Thats 63 days of wasted time! Every. Single. Day. Think of how many cakes you could bake.

Back in 2021 when TransLink identified Broadway as the most delayed bus corridor, traffic volumes and transit ridership were both much lower than today! That 1,500 hours of delay per day is probably way out of date! This delay also results in $12k of wasted money for TransLink.

This stretch of Broadway currently has bus lanes either 7-10AM, 3-7PM, or both. The proposed update is changing westbound lanes to be from 7-10AM only, to be both 7-10AM and 3-7PM. The rest ... no change! Most of the planned change is actually no change at all.

If Spadina Ave (Spadina Bus!) in Toronto can get a bus lane in 4 days after a council vote, why can't Broadway?

WHAT DO WE WANT? MONEY! ... actually, no. The costs of swapping out signs are minimal, and they could very easily print "7am-7pm" instead of "7am-10am and 3pm to 7pm". BOOM 💥 ALL DAY BUS LANE!
