Here's the thing about all of us in "right to work" states... If we sign an actual union card (not this made up general strike card that carries no weight with the NLRB), we have no protections and lose our jobs. The idea of "general strike" is nice, but I'd have to give up a job of 15 years.

I might call in sick for a single "general strike" day of protest, but I can't let my job know that's why. Wildcat strikes have no legal protections. And since my job isn't even union, it would result in instant termination. And I have a mortgage and bills, and a kid to feed.

I'm just a factory worker in a very anti-union factory and right to work state. I really don't have any union contacts. And not in a position right now at work to have a target painted on my back. Head down, nose to the grindstone and I get to pay my bills.

When will your shoe drop? It’s going to be easy for a few people who are legally in the US to get abducted by the government, that has already happened.
Will someone you personally know have to be harmed? Think about it seriously. Reach out to any union in your state.

OK, and? Unless a court rules against it and Trump actually complies, it puts a lot of federal workers in the same boat as me. No union, no NRLB protections to strike. And if we do without the entire nation and every labor union and mutual aid group supporting us, we just get fired.

This is the real problem. We don’t have enough unions to make a general strike as effective as we need it be. People not in unions need to use mutual aid networks. They can do simple stuff like call in sick.

Yes, you are right. I tell everyone to find mutual aid networks in their area. However, remember that once we meet a critical mass the risk of loosing your job forever will lessen. What we need is good networks built on feeding people. I think a rent strike will be needed too.
