Small farm in Texas trying to make food for people here with gardens and laying hens. And a shooting range where people can learn to shoot in a completely safe and affirming space. All are welcome.

While I was unwinding inside after work... "Mr. President, a second truck has hit the pasture." Looks like there's another 15 cubic yards of woodchips and more logs for firewood.

I got the best phone call this morning for anyone starting a new garden... "Hi, just wanted to verify that you still wanted a big load of wood chips."

I had a friend with a tractor and massive tiller come out to help me prep the garden spot. With that amount of equipment and his "Tiller Hiller" that automatically makes a raised bed, he did in 2 hours what would have taken my 80 hours of hard physical labor. Damn, I need a tractor.

The fence around the chicken run is going to need a lot of work. I have until June 11th to get it done. That's the day that 36 New Hampshire Red baby pullets arrive and will need a safe place to grow up.

This strain of hardneck garlic is far more heat tolerant than any other. A friend that is an expert in garlics told me it's likely a lost strain. I plan have it genetically tested, and might get to give it a name if it's unknown. I'm working to propagate it as much as I can for now.

We still have at least on more serious cold snap with a hard freeze, but Texas is getting ready for Spring to spring! The pretty little Henbit flowers start the show, and there will be many more to come in the next few weeks.

With the valiant effort of many volunteers today, we have a new garden bed. This is the first of many.
