Small farm in Texas trying to make food for people here with gardens and laying hens. And a shooting range where people can learn to shoot in a completely safe and affirming space. All are welcome.

Yeah, for me trying to do a union drive at my massive factory is a dead end, so I'm finding other viable ways to fight back.

This is the way! People posting memes about "general strike next Monday!" always piss me off. It's just hopium that doesn't get the massive amount of work and organizing that goes into organizing something of that scale in a country of 300 million people.

But fuck you very much for assuming I'm not trying to organize a massive factory full of union hating employees and owned by a multinational corporation that hires Pinkertons because I just don't care about what's going on in the world.

I'm going to give the benefit of the doubt here that a tattoo artist in New York has no idea how factory organizing in Texas works with a factory that the UAW won't even talk to after two miserable failures to get more than a couple hundred cards signed out of a workforce of 2000.

I'm just a factory worker in a very anti-union factory and right to work state. I really don't have any union contacts. And not in a position right now at work to have a target painted on my back. Head down, nose to the grindstone and I get to pay my bills.

Ok fair. Yeah, mock their asses. They need it.

You might be pissing in the wind getting these "general strike" folks to understand the real world that us working folks live in. With no idea how the real world works, I just assume they don't work and live with mom and dad.

OK, and? Unless a court rules against it and Trump actually complies, it puts a lot of federal workers in the same boat as me. No union, no NRLB protections to strike. And if we do without the entire nation and every labor union and mutual aid group supporting us, we just get fired.

I might call in sick for a single "general strike" day of protest, but I can't let my job know that's why. Wildcat strikes have no legal protections. And since my job isn't even union, it would result in instant termination. And I have a mortgage and bills, and a kid to feed.

Here's the thing about all of us in "right to work" states... If we sign an actual union card (not this made up general strike card that carries no weight with the NLRB), we have no protections and lose our jobs. The idea of "general strike" is nice, but I'd have to give up a job of 15 years.

"Just do a general strike tomorrow!" "Just raise millions of dollars to support it!" People that think like this are so out of touch that they're useless. Noise on the internet for the rest of us trying to organize. My friend group must be affluent, because we pass around the same $25.

A general strike requires coordination among every major union and thousands of community groups. Planning strike funds. Years of planning. If you think you can just yell "general strike" and make it happen, you're deluded. And don't care about the people that will be affected.

Do we have support from the major unions in the US? Have you organized strike funds to support people when they lose income? Is there anyone organizing beyond posting memes on social media? Millions of people risking their livelihood based on a meme is not an effective plan.

We have access to a ton (literally) of horse shit and flake wood chips. But no way to haul it, so it's not likely we can get it without the expense of renting a truck and trailer. I *really* need to get my old diesel truck running after sitting idle for 10 years.

After growing up ranching, I'd bet if you knocked on a door and offered to shovel out their barn or "the lot", they'd be more than happy to let you. But unless they have a front end loader, you're gonna shovel. And need a way to haul it yourself.

I have 4.5 acres and the neighbor has 5, 2 of which are suitable for spreading wood chips on the ground. So we'll take them until we can spread 6 inches of wood chips across 6.5 acres in addition to the garden mulching and making compost with it.

I texted the man from the tree company that messaged me this morning to confirm I wanted chips and logs and told him that he doesn't have to wait to see a ChipDrop request from me, that they can drop here any time. He said he'll hit me up every time they're working in the area!

There was one pile when I got home from work. Apparently, they snuck in another for me. Now there are two!

You have my sympathies! I know all too well how much work that is!!

I was absolutely amazed at how easy it was. Less than three hours from him getting here to loading back up saved me an insane amount of weeks of labor that I honestly probably wouldn't have done otherwise.

Even out tiny ass German Shepherd size whitetail deer here in Texas can make a lot of noise when they decide to lock horns.

It amazes me how well the tongue click works on every animal on earth! Beautiful young rowdy elk you have there!!

To be clear, my French was pretty limited and my Spanish is somewhat pathetic, but the struggle is real. Spanish words creep into that tiny amount of French I know, and my Mexican friends laugh when I drop a random French word in conversation. I have no advice, but offer solidarity!

A 4 foot fence with wires at top and bottom that carry 10,000 volts has worked in the past. Varmints don't like getting zapped. I just have to get it all set back up again in the next couple of months.

When I have it genetically tested, if it's a lost strain that I get to name, it will be officially named "Miriam's Pride". The garlic came from my grandparents homestead, and my Mamie would send me out to dig some up in the ditch so she could use it for dinner when I was little.

Thank you for the kid words and helping spread the word on what we're trying to do. We're starting small but really hope we can grow to what we hope to do for our community.
