I might call in sick for a single "general strike" day of protest, but I can't let my job know that's why. Wildcat strikes have no legal protections. And since my job isn't even union, it would result in instant termination. And I have a mortgage and bills, and a kid to feed.

I'm just a factory worker in a very anti-union factory and right to work state. I really don't have any union contacts. And not in a position right now at work to have a target painted on my back. Head down, nose to the grindstone and I get to pay my bills.

I'm going to give the benefit of the doubt here that a tattoo artist in New York has no idea how factory organizing in Texas works with a factory that the UAW won't even talk to after two miserable failures to get more than a couple hundred cards signed out of a workforce of 2000.

I have no idea what it is like in Texas. I do know what it was like in North Carolina. I left factory work to start tattooing. I could give myself a better wage, and nobody could stop me.
I hope you do the right thing even if your coworkers won’t. Good luck.
