relegation, that makes it a lot more likely to go through as i don't think it's entirely counterintuitive to want to allow teams coming up from the championship more than one season in which to step up their standards and meaningfully compete with the ~established bottom half wsl teams

the wsl and a rebranded wsl2? maybe the assumed answer there is that keeping the promotion place(s) retains the incentive for wsl2 sides to improve and there's even further incentive in the knowledge that they can't get sent straight back down so it's a safer longer term investment...?
