Ohhh ok, I gotcha. My dad was in the plumbers and piper-fitters union and my mom was from Michigan (auto union heavy). Right, it took til college and completely moving away that I was like… there seem to be two worlds existing here. One side was thankfully people I was friends with even though I was struggling hard, and then it was the hardcore glazed over church kids who got really creepy.

But I was raised military conservative but not also in church, so it was very much still not a world of acceptance.

Because you were so cool and aloof, LOL I loved that! You always seemed like it all just rolled right off your back, that was always good to have nearby. I wish I had understood then the real value of having really good female friendships outside those bubbles.

Have you watched Turning Red? I highly recommend it if not. It’s really cute and it’s set about the time we were growing up. I also loved the documentary of how they made it. It was made by an all women team and it made me feel warm and fuzzy but also powerful.

Oh, I hate that I came off aloof. By the time we were seniors I was going through some stuff at home. I didn’t realize how it was affecting me until later in life. I was so done with school and longed for change. I wish I understood that too. As an adult and only child I cherish my woman friends!

GOOD LORD we’ve known each other a long time!!! I wasn’t even there senior year. Kind of never got myself back together after the kids died junior year, and then when I didn’t make Wind Ensemble senior year, I was dunzo. Finished after first trimester senior year and started at CC.
