If memory serves they offered John Kasich a similar deal if he accepted the VP position in 2016; he would do all the work while 45 went around holding rallies and basking in praise. He blew the whistle on the offer, no one paid attention (except maybe Peter Thiel and Elon Musk) and now we're screwed
