As I understand, their explicitly stated intent is an institutionally sound nation state, that enshrines the rights of all people. Let's hope the remain loyal to that aspiration for governance & that the democratic world sufficiently supports their ability to build & sustain such a government
"The U.S. will no doubt welcome this diminished Russian and Iranian influence in Syria. But concern in Washington has already been aired over a scenario of “catastrophic success” in which Assad is replaced by an Islamist group that many in the West see as terrorists."
Lots of things to watch over the next couple of weeks. 🙄
Some reports say some of the groups are Islamic fundamentalist, so hopefully we don't see Al-queda or ISIS creeping up there? 😬
And were they also funded by Poot directly or indirectly?
Did Wagner group have any part in it?
Is this all a distraction in Poot’s ‘chess game’? 🤔 is reasonable to wonder, given he’s well known for creating distractions; even at the expense of apparent allies. 💁🏻♀️
For now, Iran and Russia have lost face. Russia’s access to the Mediterranean Sea is officially over. They had one of the biggest naval base in Syria and the ME. There is no place for these Russians to hide. Blood will be spilled if these Russians are caught by the Free Syrian Army.
They're calling themselves mujahideen, more or less the Syrian version of the Taliban. So not entirely non-problematic. No guarantee what faction comes to take power across the whole country or even if the country remains intact.
The plane went down, 40k people followed it live on flightradar24. It was the last plane leaving Damascus International Airport. Assad has used the plane for his personal transport before, but nobody knows who was on board yet.
It’s almost like by supplying weapons to Ukraine. We allowed Ukraine to grind down Russia’s military machine – equipment and men. This leaves, Russia, unable to support Syria, leading to the fall of the Assad regime. Russia is weakend. Regime change in Syria. Seems like this was a good investment.
Ya - if that's impressive, wait til you see a mob of thousands of angry seniors flooding the streets in every major city with pitchforks and howitzers, after getting their benefits cut by a bunch of greedy billionaires...
Oh Syria - whose civil war has Qatar & Russian Wagner Group involvement. Russia just gave Assad asylum. The same Qatar our AG Pam Bondi was an asset for paid 155k a month. The same Pam Bondi whose employer #BallardPartners represents UHC & TikTok both under DOJ investigation. Folks follow the money.
I would say we basically watched the Oligarchs decide a fate of a Nation.
We saw Iran retreat, Assad flee with severance and a bunch of Kabuki Theater fighting.
This was a staged event.
We really don't see the absurdity?

But who are these rebels, really? 🤔

Changing one oppressive regime for another is not really a victory.
Where do we think he fled to? Turkey, Dubai, Moscow? 🤔

This guy is like the UH CEO of the middle east right?
don't be stupid it already is .............
the resistance is growing - nurture it
But he'll look bad if he pulls her
So maybe he's stuck himself with her now 🤔😀
Question 2 - Who are the rebels and who’s backing them?
