It won’t sink in for Americans until they actually see the price increase. Right now it’s just words and threats. When someone is ready to buy a car and it has gone up 50% then they will believe tariffs are not just a tax other countries pay.

Recently had a new roof put on. Bringing up to code necessitated re-sheathing the roof with plywood. From the time I signed the contract to the time the work was completed, the plywood sheathing doubled in price to about $100/ sheet. I’ll guess plywood to $200/ sheet in a year.

We could retaliate by stopping all oil and refined gasoline from going to the Mid West and Gulf Coast of the US that is addicted to the tar sands oil. That oil could be shipped to the West Coast and sold to Asia. Canada also supplies natural gas and electricity.
