There really aren't many true independents, just people who don't want to admit they agree with one party or the other, or they think declaring themselves as "independent" somehow makes them better than people trying to fight to save our democracy.

I disagree. I am a moderate, registered independent. There are times when I've voted for conservative fiscal policy, but I am otherwise more aligned with democratic policy. I've mostly voted democratic, but I am still open to qualified humans making decisions no matter the side.

I'll add that I have not voted for any republican in decades, but if one came along that made any sense to me, I'd consider it. Haven't seen one in a long time though. I don't consider myself better than anyone for registering independent. I'm just trying to keep an open mind in the long run.
