The one thing I keep feeling is that transphobia isn’t worse.
Trans people gained more comfort, knowledge, visibility, and audacity, and we’re seeing a reaction to that.
Growing up, I didn’t know the word trans in high school or understand it until mid-university.
They don’t want that to change.

A LOT has changed.
But you can't undo knowledge, not that they won't try.
Because transphobia has lessened in areas that are not the worst.
This is a dangerous response to an increase in trans happiness, and a decrease in trans exclusion.
This is what I hold onto.
Growing up, I never even heard that word.
I did experience a bunch of queer leftist kids get freaked out by someone AMAB in a skirt though.
We can’t let threat take away that knowledge or comfort, even as we recognize the danger as real & potent.
Don’t let them make you believe transphobia is worse, and not just louder from certain pockets.
There are more people with us than ever before.
