When in doubt, #judithbutler

"I wish it need not have happened in my time," said Frodo. "So do I," said Gandalf, "and so do all who live to see such times. But that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given us.” ― J.R.R. Tolkien, The Fellowship of the Ring #50501

"Remember, remember, the Fifth of November, The day that our country was bought. I know of no reason this ultimate treason Should ever be forgot."

My I offer MAGA a nice egg substitute in these trying times?

(Checks to see if my publisher is part of this suit) FUCK YEAH MACMILLAN GET THESE MOFOS www.theguardian.com/books/2025/f...

This movie is, shall we say...very relevant, twenty years later.

Why use reliable science when you could just slice yourself up to transition? Right? Right? Unrelated: My book, Moonchild, is out and it definitely has stuff in it. Trans stuff. Gay stuff. Blood stuff. Its good shit. Worth maybe spending a few bucks on~ savikawrites.itch.io/moonchild

I can't begin to describe how terrifying this is as a writer.

Very solid advice from Bernice King (Ebony, Feb 2017).

ANYWAY, sorry, here's a bird. Pause and regard the bird. The bird is happy, for the bird has found a peanut. May we all find the small joy of finding a tasty snack today. (photo by me)

VERY good news from @bookshop-org.bsky.social!!

Do Not Comply In Advance.

Many did not bother watching the inauguration, which is a good start. I suggest we also boycott all his speeches and State of the Union addresses. The best way to put a weed in his place is by starving it of attention.

I wish this was just in the dystopian novels.

Great resource for fellow fantasy/historical writers! I have the bonus of incorporating Edwardian era colors (1900s adjacent!) Adding a resource for these more modern colors too. vintagedancer.com/1900s/edward...

My main character takes good care of his garden! #amwritingfantasy

My cat's very valuable addition to Strix: "gvbbbbbbbbbbbbbbb". Very insightful. #writinglife

When was someone going to inform me that German roast coffee is the best? It's not the greatest (courtesy of Aldi US) but the vacuum seal on that brick made all the difference. This is the first coffee I can drink straight black without suffering.

#QueerWriters Sunday line share!

“You actually give a damn, something that’s in remarkably short order these days. So yes, I knew you would accept. Because you’re not a sonofabitch, though you’re doing a damn fine job pretending to be one today.” 🚀✨ #amwritingfantasy

Been struggling with some pretty severe burnout, I've hardly touched Strix's file in weeks.

Resistance to tyranny requires a far more critical lens than most people think. Outrage is easy. Wielding that outrage like a weapon takes skill. It's not enough to recognize what is happening. We must be ready to explain WHY it is happening.

i drop this when people are prone to click through to outrage bait in the NYT. don’t. 1—that’ll make it the best performing piece of the day 2—you don’t need to read it; the thesis is “we found folks willing to say trans people should settle for less” 3—the nyt has always been like this
