Complicit is too light a word imo. Ill equipped to with how far gone the right is, this work is the guiding principal for a lot of media people. If we call things how they are that means things are really bad and reporting will not be, "both sides!" A sin greater than insurrection apparently.
The MSM expects this irresponsible behavior from the GOP so they naturally want the Dems to act like adults and always expect them to fix the mess. It's a well-known pattern since the Great Depression.
Yeah, like, remember when everyone was unironically pretending that *kneeling* was inherently disrespectful?
Kneeling.
The universal sign of respect, enforced by kings and gods and bosses in all human cultures in all of history, was now uppity, and always had been, because a black guy just did it.
Naming the reality of what we all saw happen with our own eyes is now just "political rhetoric" to the who's up, who's down horserace media.
If Trump's coup had been successful, the headlines today would be, "Dissatisfied Dems resent Trump's successful hold on power after his 2020 election loss."
The sitcom dynamic of "wacky irresponsible character is shocked when boring responsible character doesn't stop them from doing something dumb/bail them out afterwards" is no basis for a system of government. Even strange women lying in ponds, distributing swords, is better.
Comments
"insurrectionally-inclined" and "not significantly insurrection-averse" are also off the table, before you ask.
It's a match made in jannat.
