“Now that you’ve unfairly called us Nazis I have no choice but to do a Sieg Heil” is really where we’re going with this. Do not relent. The public is not on their side. “It was an accident” is not the same thing as “I’m doing it intentionally but ironically.”

no one is coming to save you. people are only coming to kill you and take all of your stuff

The Bureau of Prisons is moving forward with plans to move transgender inmates out of prisons that align with their gender identity and into facilities that align with their assigned sex at birth.

It's been so run through pop culture as to seem almost corny, but I need you all to understand with the deepest seriousness available to you that the "First they came for..." thing was to prepare you for this exact moment

Power doesn't evaporate—it concentrates. From Madison's vision to Musk's dystopia, see how libertarian naivety paves the way for reactionary control. Uncover the unholy alliance of tech oligarchs, religious zealots, and populists dismantling democracy.

One aspect of doing a political purge of the military and civil service is you can't come back in afterwards and just revert to status quo ante policies. A counter-purge becomes a necessity before you can then restore usual norms and protections. The people he's installing can't be left in place.

Unfortunately you have to primary everyone, not just because they don't have what it takes to fight, but because they don't have what it takes to rebuild. Last thing you want is them to win by default and then tread water until the next Trump comes to power

Very much like the Iraq War, somehow "I thought Elon Musk was a genius until a couple years ago" is now considered the more respectable and serious opinion than "I knew he was a fraud for a decade and was never fooled by him."

Medicaid is not for sale. NASA is not for sale. The Post Office is not for sale. America is not for sale. We have an obligation to resist kings. We outnumber them. And they can be overwhelmed.

This is exactly how Hitler talked. It's not even a comparison or analogy, as people claim. It's a direct connection in ideology as well as a similar approach to governance and relationship to democracy. This needs to be how we talk about it. They are the ideological descendants of Hitler.

I recently started re-reading Vonnegut's Breakfast of Champions, startled by the memory that its main character goes crazy believing everyone else is an NPC, and there's the whole problem with the people who use that term, right on page 23

When we get to write Constitution 2 may I suggest that the amendment abolishing slavery actually abolishes slavery this time?

New: DOGE's spending has been secret. No longer. My colleagues have uncovered it. www.propublica.org/article/doge...

"NPC" as an insult has its roots in 4chan memes and suggests not only that some categories of people aren't really people, but that they are disposable in a moral sense. It is not just an illiberal insult, it is a fascist insult with genocidally violent undertones.

everyone's rightly dazzled by the recent power grabs and bureaucracy purges, but please take a moment to think about the next steps in a fascist coup, e.g. and esp. brownshirts en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sturmab...

the whole 2020-2024 era of “dems shouldnt aggressively use the levers of power bc then republicans will do the same thing when theyre elected” sure looks dumb as dog shit right now huh

One of many bad things about contemporary eugenicist bullshit: it's based on a misunderstanding of 1870s vintage ideas about evolution. Not 1970s, 1870s. Thoroughly debunked and disproven, but this is what's driving RFK jr's attempt to wreck the FDA, CDC, and other healthcare regulators.

new excerpt from stream big is up on @polygon.com. this one is about the rise of hasan piker www.polygon.com/twitch/52486...

“The problem is no longer “money in politics”; it’s just money. Anything we can do to break its concentration—through taxation, antitrust enforcement, and public ownership of public goods—will help reduce the political power it commands.” www.bostonreview.net/articles/how...

The DOGE firings have nothing to do with “efficiency” or “cutting waste.” They’re a direct push to weaken federal agencies perceived as liberal. This was evident from the start, and now the data confirms it: targeted agencies overwhelmingly those seen as more left-leaning. 🧵⬇️

If you want a long, but very thorough, read on just how crazy dangerous the situation is with Elon, @brockm.bsky.social has laid it all out in a single article. Please read it. www.techdirt.com/2025/02/05/t...

There are 24 hours in a day. This isn't politics—it's physics. So when Musk claims to run multiple global companies while seizing control of Treasury systems and shuttering federal agencies, we're watching a constitutional crisis hidden behind an obvious impossibility.

Today is *not* a “peaceful transfer of power.” It’s the completion of a violent coup attempt that began this morning four years ago. Yes, Trump won the ‘24 election; but he was only able to run because we failed to fully confront the fact of that violent coup attempt.

Thinking of this today for no reason

Stop Forcing A.I. into Fucking EVERYTHING!

Yeah but republicans and the media will blame us for it instead of the people killing it.
