This may be a dumb question, but why *are* eggs so expensive in the US right now? I follow a vegan diet so I don't normally buy eggs, but I looked up some prices just now and they're way cheaper in Canada, even before accounting for the exchange rate.

US farms are too big and disease spreads rapidly. Canadian supply management allows us to keep smaller farms.
