Me too, why not use more generous UC allowances & tapers to ensure you always earn more in work rather than cutting it? Why not do some drug reform if we are losing tax via the tobacco levy? Why not ban investor only listings? Seems like they have zero imagination
Maybe I should publish my email response to a Conservative Councillor about asylum seekers in a local hotel. I didn’t get a response. Which is exceptionally rude given we were invited to email in our thoughts…
That’s essentially how I saw it then, and see it now. May be I differ in thinking that Reform can’t surely get past both our electorate and FPTP. From which as you say would be difficult to recover.
A Tory-Reform pact with the backing of the right-wing media, and in the absence of a strong compelling alternative vision from Labour, would be a real threat to the country.
Hopefully replies will include a full list of everything they have already done, things which are in progress and future plans - for this parliament, not for today or even yesterday. Lords were themselves preventing abolishment of hereditaries by continuing to speak, to prevent progress.
You've saved me a drafting job, thanks. I'm not a Labour member but I walked miles and miles canvassing for them in May and June, and I'm still in the group chats 😁 My new MP seems to think it's just Labour's turn, rather than have any strong belief in a better society. It's very disappointing.
A dilemma indeed, I am thinking very carefully about my continued membership, the problem is that if you give up your membership you give up any influence you might have over the future leadership of the party.
I can't see them changing leader anytime soon. If that starts looking likely, I might rejoin just for that purpose - but only if I agree with any of the contenders.
This is exactly how I feel, for the first time we have a female MP and the first Labour MP in almost 100 years who is a humanitarian, she works tirelessly and wants the best for her constituents but she’s being let down by her own party.
It’s madness.
If we had a Labour MP I'd write something similar. I'm "fortunate" that Labour are a distant 3rd in our constituency, so I don't have the same dilemma as you. A nagging worry is Reform, although I'd be surpised if they make inroads here.

...I would be joining you in resigning !
It’s madness.
Really want to support this government, but they aren’t making it easy.
