It’s a feckless liberalism that makes strasserism like this possible, you described the process perfectly. Eventually the circle will close on the faithful but for now they see themselves being “defended” by the right, no matter if the issues are hand-me-downs with a few missing buttons & a dye job.

I agree with you about dems needing v. strong reproductive rights messaging but I’m a little 🤔 at her trump choice - JD Vance had a bunch of anti-IVF comments and repubs voted down an IVF rights law. It seems like that probably would have been relevant for her!

almost made me empathize but I'm biased against IVF anyway & the stupid selfishness of believing a liar who ALSO promised to destroy other people's lives? I can't have kids either, I know it sucks, but she wanted a *daughter* & she voted for the rapist who wants women to die of ectopic pregnancies

I keep thinking about how conservatives made the case that inflation was caused solely by Biden stimulus checks while, at the same time, if you ask ppl in some of the areas of declining Dem support what motivated them they mention Trump putting his name on stimulus checks as a big part of it

They do everything they can to scare the Dems off from being the party of government helps people which both lets them lie about what they will use government to do (and not always lie!) AND makes it super hard for the Dems to defend government at a time like this when they're gutting it.
