Where we are going to discuss the reset in our relationship. It will probably be based on military and security aspects. The EU will be aware that Starmer has they far right nipping at his heels. They will not make deals with countries that might turn out like Hungary at the next election.

This may take two posts. Please look up Maroš Sef.. speech where he pointed out that we would be reviewing the trade agreement in 2026 and that we needed to have implemented all of the elements that we agreed to prior to that. I don’t think that has changed. We have a meeting with. UvdL next month

Heard a Canadian saying this to James's O'Brien earlier in response to call for Starmer to be more Carney. He pointed out we don't hold any cards and we don't have a huge land border with the USA. Anyone suggesting this is showing their stupidity in my opinion.

We need to take action on a personal level by boycotting as many US products and services as we can, don't cut off your nose to spite your face but if you can do without don't buy. Be carefull as some companies you may think as British or European are actually yank owned eg. Costa and Morrisons

Been doing that for months, ditched Amazon Prime, ditched my Kindle in favour of a Kobo, ditched twitter and FB and not been in a Starbucks for years. As you say shouldn't cut off our noses to spite our face, but we all do our bit.

My stance has moved from avoidance to actively boycotting where possible. One big and easy hit is not booking holidays there, we had a lovely trip to the USA last August but no more till this madness ends.

Unfortunately, I live in rural France so I have to get everything by Post, but I have been trying not to use Amazon unless it’s absolutely the last resort. There are French companies. It’s just fiddly to find them, but it’s very satisfying once you have.

Not wanting a tantrum, but a concerted response on principle would be more powerful. From all affected countries. Generate new market conditions to offset the economic damage and share the wealth between the aggrieved parties. America alone… ‘you broke it you buy it’.

That sounds great. The first thing that would need to happen for that to take place would be that the EU organize themselves into a united front. Then we could choose to join them. But we are not part of the EU and just because Macron says something doesn’t mean it will happen.

I live in France and I really like Macron but you only have to look at the confusion over support for Ukraine to know that they are not going to come up quickly with a unanimous response. And for good or ill we are not part of the trading block so we have to do what’s best for us however sad that is

They won t move before 2026 IMHO. That’s the date of the review of the treaty and that’s what Marǒs S..said. We also need to have fulfilled all of the areas of the original treaty. They are not opposed to having us back, but they aren’t desperate.
