In furtherance of these goals, I'd also love more education around consent! Not just for sex! When you think about consent more broadly, it reinforces the notion of equalized humanity. My wants and needs are no more important or less valid than yours, and society should be us negotiating that 😀

I took their expressed desires seriously, and if we couldn’t all of it, we would get some part of it. I also explained that they needed to attend to their responsibilities first. Finally, I enforced a strict ‘Girls Are People’ rule, and they had lots of friends who were girls.

I hope we can move past the flaccid and ineffectual feminism that posits women’s freedom as a matter of healing men’s souls; I hope we can move toward a model of women’s lives that locates their worth in things other than sexuality, marriage, motherhood, and male approval.

I hope we can identify and reject the logics that identify women’s oppression as somehow *less* serious because it is so intimate; I hope we can dispose of those who argue that we must sacrifice women’s freedom and dignity for the sake of men’s egos.

I have thought about quitting.
But there's still girls to think of, there's always been girls to think of. We have to protect them. Before they become women!
The sad sick reality is that there's too many predators to give up.

Well said. And I would like to add that a woman's worth is ALSO expressed in her own unique expression and experience of motherhood, marriage and sexuality, which are central to many women's lives - sometimes by choice and tragically sometimes not.
