I found it was instantly warm and comforting (as you’d expect) but lacking any of the songwriting that made his previous two and especially the last one instant classics. But I am encouraged by your comments further down the post suggesting smtg similar, and that it opens up on repeat plays
I popped it on in the background and only then did I find myself being stopped and inclined to really listen. I think it’s an album that seeps in rather than engulfs on first listen.

Yes I always wondered how he could possibly follow Kiwanuka. One a bright note however, the pressing I have (blue marbled) is absolutely flawless. Much unlike my copy of his previous LP which was a vinyl travesty imo!
