If we believe in a citizen republic this is actually a very good thing. Nothing sad or bad about it. Also, they're wealthy people. They could easily not go shopping in public. Good for them being like everyone else.

It’s like a rock star getting off stage and having to transition to be a normal person. He’s not referring to actual shopping as depressing, just the sudden change. It’s a common reaction people have to the extremes.
It’s only been 4 years of power. Also, you could hire people to shop for you. Perhaps I’m being cynical but could it be that this is the exact reaction somebody somewhere wanted to generate. Just wondering….
You said its depressing. We're disagreeing. I think it would be a huge relief. Service at the level they gave is an honor but also a grave responsibility.
Thank you for saying this. And bravo Kamala and Doug, who have nothing whatsoever to be embarrassed or ashamed about...unlike the folks who won the election and are running things (into the ground) right now.
These jobs were never meant to be careers. The idea was for people to go into government to serve their community and then to take all they learned in those positions back to the community and improve it from through the knowledge gained while serving. It was never supposed to be about 💵 and power.
Yes. That's different than what I meant. That's good. To keep learning moving and serving in different aspects. But people like senators and congressmen whether is state or federal, those jobs weren't meant to be careers. There was supposed to be turnover.
Yes. People were elected to serve for an X amount. Unless elected again, they should go back to being an average citizen unless they create organizations the way Carter or Obama did.
