Specifically when I did it, I was doing lots of these little square paintings for a gallery that only sold square art, now defunct. Some painter decorators were in our rented cottage in rural west Dorset and assumed because I was doing art I must be rich and privileged

I was as poor as I’ve ever been and we were just barely clinging on. Anyway a ghost came one day and scared the painter decorators so that was nice.

I did a portrait of Alfred E. Neumann because a friend asked for it. I thought it sucked. Everyone loves it on social media. I don't understand anything. 🤔
