Thunderbirds has extra significance for me - it was made where I grew up, and several friends has parents who had toured the studio when they were young.
It’s had an outsized influence on popular culture, and is referenced in basically everything.
The trouble is that none of them get it right, not even the new CG Thunderbirds shows. The originals being an hour long allowed the story to flow. There was space for the tension to build up to the action.
This was my favourite part of my favourite episode, and I feel like today it would be about a tenth of the length it was originally. It’s brilliantly directed.
