It's not only the incoming horrors, it's the opportunity cost: the loss of the future we almost had, the possibility and progress within our reach that voters rejected in favor of this timeline where we all will suffer.

It's a devastating loss of hope for our country & planet. Little to salvage, complete transformation is necessary, and trying to maintain peace through it all...
I've been feeling this since the delulu "back to normal" era of trauma around COVID. People are calling for change and destroying the system and I'm like "What're you talking about? You literally had the chance and said nah."
The oligarchs will sip champagne while we suffer. I am furious at the idiots who threw away our best opportunity for hope and progress. America will resemble the bleakness and want of the old Soviet Union. All because the bigots wouldn’t vote for a woman, let alone a black woman 😡😡
TBH I wouldn't care so much if this wasn't going to screw the rest of the world as much -- or more. Palestine, the near east and Ukraine are looking at obliteration, as are any attempts at coordinated global action to save the environment.
In Europe and the anglophone world, the far-right -- the racists and misogynists -- are encouraged and emboldened, while the centre shifts ever right-ward. USA-ians are going to have a lot of making up to the rest of us.
There are so many that are in denial of what is to come. So many people on the left are holding onto the idea of checks and balances. I am doing my best to prepare for the worst while simultaneously hoping that I’m wrong.
Right? It's as if we were a decent way up the ladder to better things (after having to rebuild the ladder 4 years ago), and now someone knocked us down and burned the ladder to ashes again...
