Personally, I found it was pretty organic to the setting. We kept being told a hard burn could be dangerous and that even mitigated by the juice it was still hazardous, and he ended up stroking out from one last hard burn.

I absolutely understand his death, and it coming out of seemingly nowhere is a good way to show the danger they are regularly in, my problem is that the immediate aftermath is them going celebrating with only a small mention of him happening there.

You could tell his death was not planned from the start, as it basically feels out of place with the scenes afterwards which put way more weight on Naomi's trauma than a main crew member's death, and it makes sense once you find out it mainly happened because of issues behind the scenes

I see what you're saying. That might have also been a writing decision because the actor had turned out to be problematic and they didn't want to make it sound like the actor would be missed rather than the character, but I agree they should've done more to indicate Alex had died.

Agree, the last book, last chapter , Miller returns ..!
It was a good ending , one of many to choose from. Like the Master & Commander Series , each book just stops in mid narrative...as does life ,
Allowing the reader to fill in futures .!

Timeline-wise it would not matter that much that there's a gap of several years. Plotwise, it's at least 20 years between books 6 and 7. Provided you're right and there will be another Expanse, the aging of the actors would fit.

The Expanse managed to push Star Trek: The Next Generation from my personal #1 spot for overall best science fiction series.

I mean, there’s literally no rush. I’m cool with them waiting till it’s the right time. And I have absolute trust that they’ll nail the series end in the way they did the books. Totally know it’s going to happen.
