None of them have as much as Danielle Smith’s former boss, Murray Edwards — CNRL carries roughly 1/4 of all inactive wells in the province, or a staggering 20K.

I know he's a big abuser of the regulations, but if they do too, it seems like a conflict if their overseeing "remedies' for their own failures.

And seems citizens recourse to stop the waste of our land and monies is hamstrung because of it.

For sure. I guess my point is that even if board members didn’t/don’t have liabilities to worry about, they have surely been picked & instructed to not do anything that would affect the industry’s competitiveness — and having to clean up your wells would do that.

I'd head the regulator if they'd have me, bring some actual scrutiny into it.

Amazing to me that the AER doesn’t hire a CEO with administrative law background. That’s what it’s all about to me, but that doesn’t seem to have occurred to anyone there.

I’m not ready to throw in the towel on citizens paying for liabilities. Orphan fund education/capitalization is the key.
