You've already withdrawn from Europe. The foundation of any alliance is trust, and that's been destroyed by Trump's posturing regarding whether or not the US would respond to an invocation of Article 5. NATO is over. It's a vestigial institution until something replaces it.

Worrisome! In reference to General MIlley's last major public address --The men and women in the Armed Forces must reject commands from above that ask them to violate the Constitution. Is there such fidelity and will in the upper echelons of the US Military? This, I worry, is a looming question.

I look at Congress, and I know they are not stupid people. They choose to not speak up, and show tacit support for fear of reprisal when they seek reelection. They are literally selling out their country for fear of losing their jobs. Moral cowardice at it apex.

We are effectively in a constitutional Interregnum period and the functioning of the government under law has collapsed. This is something else now, but it has nothing to do with the constitution.

When this is over, we will need to build something new.
