Unfortunately that's like 99% of "positive" fat characters in anime. Literally the only fat character I can think of off the top of my head that wasn't food-obsessed is Biscuit from Gundam: Iron-blooded Orphans, and even then he's like fit fat and also his name is Biscuit...

And honestly I'm having trouble coming up with a lot of plus size rep in anime and games period. There's a few that maybe aren't *great* that I personally find myself endeared to regardless (Plus Sized Elf comes to mind) but positive or even neutral examples seem kinda tricky to come by

I do find comfort in and like to reclaim a lot of ‘bad’ representation in media of fat people as even though it isn’t very accurate, I find a lot of it relatable in a way and connect with it. However, I do think there should be more thought put into those characters and storylines in the future.

I think folks in general can be a bit more guarded about certain interpretations of characters when it's a stereotype or it's all that's ever represented, but in isolation the portrayal might not necessarily be bad.

Like I don't think "fat character who loves to eat" is inherently horrible but I understand why it's a little hot-button when it has an association with being a negative trope.

I, from my own personal experience as a fat woman, find that trope endearing depending on how it is done. But obviously that shouldn’t be the extent of how fat people are portrayed because we all are extremely different from each other and have our own unique stories to tell.

I totally get that. I remember Agari from Komi Can't Communicate for example, who *does* love food but also has other personality traits, and I find her character cute and fun.

Like how it is a trope in a lot of animated shows for there to be a humorous episode where one of the characters becomes fat, I like to think about ‘wouldn’t it be cool if they just stayed this way for the rest of the show’?
