The biggest thing I’m getting from this book is that I’ve always *vastly* underestimated how much the immigrant experience was core to the whole Van Halen phenomenon. Which is absolutely fascinating

right... I lived in Indonesia for eleven years, and I did not know the van Halen brothers were Dutch Indonesian.
I don't understand why they weren't held up everywhere.
Similar to Jimi Hendrix. Humble beginnings.
Except Hendrix was Hendrix. If you’d like to hear a hammer- on style master, who didn’t use it all the time, I’d suggest “machine Gun”. Live-New Year’s Eve
Eddie was good, no question.
But Hendrix was Hendrix.
Warning! This rundown is incorrect. Why Can’t This Be Love is the worst VH track? C'mon! Me Wise Magic at 104. Has this person actually listened to the band?
The immigrant thing is core to a lot of things we don’t think of. And that’s true not only for the immigrant but for anyone that works for or with, loves, is related to or friends with, an immigrant.
